Affecting factors related to cancer screening behaviors, South Korea

Abstract
OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to the cancer screening behavior.
METHODS:
The 2014 community health survey was used for analysis. The dependent variable was cancer screening behavior, and the independent variables were sociodemographic, health behavioral, and regional factors. Propensity score matching(PSM) was used to control health behavioral and regional factors, which were influencing cancer screening behavior. For statistical analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used.
RESULTS:
Logistic regression analysis after PSM showed that gender, age, marital status, educational level, monthly household income, employment type, alcohol drinking, smoking, BMI group, chronic disease and subjective health status influenced on the cancer screening behavior, which made statistical differences.
CONCLUSIONS:
In order to improve cancer screening, it is necessary to educate on the need of cancer screening, and to carry out a personalized cancer screening program based on individual's sociodemographic, health behavior.
