Abstract
In order to respond to the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) worldwide, the World Health Organization developed the global action plan (GAP), which included nine targets and 25 indicators to monitor the targets. Owing to space constraints, the article reviewed the status of 17 indicators for seven targets out of nine targets in the GAP in Korea. Most of these 17 indicators required additional analysis with existing national data to evaluate the status in Korea. Based on the result from evaluating indicators, the current NCD policy strategy and resources in Korea seemed unlikely to reach the GAP goals, unless innovative policy changes was planned to reduce NCD risk factors particularly focusing on smoking, excessive drinking, and insufficient physical activity.

Abstract
For policy goal setting, efficacy evaluations, and the development of related programs for reducing sodium intake, it is essential to accurately identify the amount of sodium intake in South Korea and constantly monitor its trends. The present study aimed to identify the status of sodium intake in South Korea and to review the methods and their validity for estimating sodium intake in each country; through this, we aim to determine more accurate methods for determining sodium intake and to monitor the trend in sodium intake for Korean citizens in the future. Using 24-hour dietary recall data from the 2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) to estimate daily sodium intake, the average daily sodium intake among Koreans was 4,546 mg (men, 5,212 mg; women, 3,868 mg). In addition to the nutrition survey that uses the 24-hour dietary recall method, sodium intake can also be calculated from the amount of sodium excreted in 24-hour urine, 8-hour overnight urine, and spot urine samples. Although KNHANES uses the 24-hour dietary recall method to estimate the sodium intake, the 24-hour dietary recall method has the disadvantage of not being able to accurately determine the amount of sodium intake owing to its unique characteristics of the research method and in the processing of data. Although measuring the amount of sodium excreted in 24-hour urine is known to be the most accurate method, because collecting 24-hour urine from the general population is difficult, using spot urine samples to estimate sodium intake has been suggested to be useful for examining the trend of sodium intake in the general population. Therefore, we planned to conduct a study for estimating of 24-hour sodium excretion from spot urine and 8-hour overnight urine samples and testing the validity among subsamples in the KNHANES. Based on this result, we will adopt the most appropriate urine collection method for estimating population sodium intake in South Korea.

Abstract
The Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) 2010 Statement, updated in March 2010, includes a 25-item checklist and flow diagram. Adherence to this statement is a minimum requirement for the complete, clear, and transparent reporting of randomized trials. We translated the CONSORT 2010 Statement into Korean to promote the widespread adherence to CONSORT in South Korea and to facilitate the adoption of complete, clear, and transparent reporting. The Korean version of the CONSORT is available at http://www.e-epih.org/.

Abstract
Ebola virus disease (hereafter Ebola) has a high fatality rate; currently lacks a treatment or vaccine with proven safety and efficacy, and thus many people fear this infection. As of August 13, 2014, 2,127 patients across four West African countries have been infected with the Ebola virus over the past nine months. Among these patients, approximately 1 in 2 has subsequently died from the disease. In response, the World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. However, Ebola is only transmitted by patients who already present symptoms of the disease, and infection only occurs upon direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an Ebola patient. Consequently, transmission of the outbreak can be contained through careful monitoring for fever among persons who have visited, or come into contact with persons from, the site of the outbreak. Thus, patients suspected of presenting symptoms characteristic of Ebola should be quarantined. To date, South Korea is not equipped with the special containment clinical units and biosafety level 4 facilities required to contain the outbreak of a fatal virus disease, such as Ebola. Therefore, it is necessary for South Korea to make strategies to the outbreak by using present facilities as quickly as possible. It is also imperative that the government establish suitable communication with its citizens to prevent the spread of uninformed fear and anxiety regarding the Ebola outbreak.

Abstract
AIDS has become a pandemic ever since the initial recognition in 1981, and experts state the pandemic is still in its early stages difficult to gauge, but appearently threateming global health. This paper is prepared in order to provide with correct information on the global distribution of AIDS patient by means of AIDS patient density (cumulative AIDS pts per unit of population) in determining global rank of AIDS occurrence. The conventional way of expressing rank with the absolute number of AIDS patients would not be as useful as the density presentation in terms of epidemiological understanding of the pandemic. The materials utilized are WHO Weekly Epidemiological Record: AIDS Data As At August 31, 1988 and 1986 population data in WHO Annual Statistics, 1987. Summarized results are as followings: 1. One hundred forty countries(78.7%) out of 178 countries, which informed the presence or absence of AIDS patient to WHO reported to have AIDS patients; the percent of countries having AIDS patients among countries informed to the WHO was 93.3% in European continent, 90.9% in American continent, 86.5% in African, 57.9% in Asian and 35.7% in Oceanian. Number of total AIDS patient per million of the population for each continent were 119 patients in American, 41 in Oceanian, 26 in African, 19 in European and 0.1 in Asian continent. Geobal average/million was 23 patients. 2. AIDS patient Density(per million population) by country ranged from 0 to 1345 pateints; in African continent there were six countries where the number of AIDS patient per million was over one hundred-Congo(700), Brundi(290), Uganda(250), Central African Republic(164), Rwanda(157) and Zambia(144); in American continent smaller resort areas with fewer population had higher AIDS density, and there were 9 countries with more than 100 AIDS patients/million population-French Quiana(1345), Bahamas(803), Bermuda(339), U.S.A.
